![]() The music that they used in the trailer is also fairly familiar in a sense that it evoked the feeling of adventure. I think it suits the game to have this kind of graphics as they were able to express Minaba’s art very well.įor a game that was in development since 2016, the graphics still looks fresh and is almost on par with the recent released Tales of Arise (with Arise being slightly superior) and certainly better looking than Star Ocean 6’s character models. This is also what Cygames had in mind so the team opted to go for a more cartoonish 3D design rather than the photorealistic kind in order to faithfully recreate the characters in 3D. Hideo Minaba had illustrated a lot of cool-looking characters for Granblue Fantasy and it’s a shame if the game won’t be able to recreate this, right? Don’t ask me how Siegfried became buddies with the Knights of the Round… I’m a Knighthead so the likes of Catalina, Lancelot, Siegfried, Percival and Vane greatly appealed to me although the main protag was like a sundae bought from McDonald’s… very vanilla. Several of the characters included looked cool! I’m not sure how much of the work Platinum made was left or if there was any at all, but it looks like they were able to keep the stylish action. I’m glad that Cygames was able to pull through in the end! Even I wondered if it’s going to end up being cancelled. With the departure of PlatinumGames, many people expressed their worries about the game. The boss battle looked exhilarating with characters pulling off flashy combo moves. It featured a fast-paced action title in the veins of NieR:Automata. Granblue Fantasy: Relink is still right up my alley, especially the trailer that they released back in 2018. The colorful cast of GBF were brought to life by Hideo Minaba’s artwork The only exception is probably Another Eden which I play occasionally although I don’t really buy gachas and only use the characters that’s given to me. ![]() I tried a couple of them like Fire Emblem Heroes and War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius but I just couldn’t get into it. Granblue Fantasy was a game that I was always interested in because of its fantastic artwork that was reminiscent of early Final Fantasy games. If you have played the original game then you’ll probably be familiar with this story as I figured it will be a sort of retelling of the mobile title. One thing to note is that to unlock the multiplayer feature, you will have to progress through the main story first.Īs for the main story, you will be given the chance to play either as Gran or Djeeta and will watch events unfold through their eyes. Relink will feature both single-player campaign and multiplayer co-op side quest. Cygames didn’y stop there and further expanded the title into other platforms and genres starting with Granblue Fantasy Versus – a fighting game developed by Arc System Works and was released last year and now Granblue Fantasy: Relink – a full-fledged action RPG for the PlayStation and PC. They have since made some changes in their gacha mechanics where you’ll get to choose a character you want after several misses.ĭue to Granblue Fantasy’s popularity in Japan, it spawned a manga and anime adapation. Granblue Fantasy was also planned to release internationally but the developers opted to just include an English language patch to the Japanese version.Īt some point, the game was involved in a controversy where one streamer spent $6,000 USD in one night trying to get one character! This ended up causing a massive uproar and the company issued refunds to players. ![]() There’s also some big names behind this game like the artist Hideo Minaba, who previously worked on several Final Fantasy games and of course the legendary Nobuo Uematsu who composed a lot of kickass soundtracks for Final Fantasy. The game is a massive hit in its native country and was actually downloaded over at least 10 million times since the release. ![]() Granblue Fantasy started out as a mobile RPG with gacha elements developed by Cygames and was released in Japan back in 2014. However, in early 2019, Cygames announced that PlatinumGames is no longer involved in the project and that they would take on the development of the game by themselves. Granblue Fantasy: Relink was announced way back in 2016 and was originally being co-developed by Cygames and PlatinumGames - the developer of popular action titles such as Bayonetta, NieR:Automata and Metal Gear: Rising. Another trailer has dropped for Granblue Fantasy: Relink! After years of being in development, we are actually nearing the release date with the game being slated to release in 2022. ![]()
